Cevdet Acu is a PhD candidate in Economics. He is interested in refugee economies, labour market integration of refugees, and economic development. His focus is on the macroeconomic influence of displaced people on receiving countries. His research is concerned with the question of how Syrian refugees impact the labour market in host countries in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

Ilke Adam is an Associate Professor in Political Science. She is the co-director of the Research Centre for Migration, Diversity and Justice at the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG) of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Together with Florian Trauner, she also coordinates the Brussels Interdisciplinary Research centre on Migration and Minorities (BIRMM) at VUB, which unites over 100 researchers from 12 disciplines. She graduated in law (Universities of Leuven and Barcelona) and political science (Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Université Aix-Marseille III & Université Libre de Bruxelles PhD).

Research

Her research interests include immigration, immigrant integration, anti-racism and anti-discrimination policies, with a particular focus on the multi-level governance of these policies. She studies local, regional, national and European policies, as well as the interactions between governance levels. Beyond research on public policies, Adam's research interests extend to the study of multiculturalism, citizenship, anti-racist activism and sub-state nationalism.

Ilke Adam is currently a consortium partner in two Horizon 2020 projects: BRIDGES on the production and impact of migration narratives (with a focus on West-Africa) and WHOLE-COM on integration policies for post-2015 migrants in small and medium-sized towns (focus on Belgium). She presently also conducts research and prepares publications on anti-racist activism in Europe and EU-Africa relations on migration.

Recent publications include a book on Intergovernmental Relations on Immigrant Integration in Multi-Level States (Routledge 2021, co-edited Eve Hepburn) and the book Migration,Equality and Racism. 44 Opinions (Academia Press 2021, co-edited with Tundé Adefioye, Serena d’Agostino, Nick Schuermans and Florian Trauner)

Maria Adamopoulou holds a Doctorate in History from the European University Institute in Florence. Her research project focuses on the transnational bonds of Greek Gastarbeiter in the Federal Republic of Germany with their homeland in the period 1960-1989. Her main research interests are social history, migration studies, oral history and memory.

Seun B. Adebayo is currently a PhD Researcher, Research Supervisor and
Graduate Teaching Fellow at the School of Education, University of
Galway, Ireland. His PhD study on developing teachers' pedagogies in
culturally diverse Irish schools is fully funded by the Galway Doctoral Research
Scholarship and the Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship. Seun
obtained his joint Master's degree in Education Policies for Global
Development from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in partnership with
University of Amsterdam, University of Oslo and University of Malta. His
Master's programme was fully funded by the European Commission's Erasmus
Mundus scholarship.
Seun's research area of expertise and interest include education policy, teacher
education and professional development, culturally-responsive pedagogy, youth
development, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, Sub-Saharan
Africa, SDG 4, Irish education system, progressive education reforms,
practitioner/action research, education in conflict/post-conflict contexts, and
quality education. He has successfully published his research results in peer-
reviewed academic journals, such as Teaching and Teacher Education and
Cambridge Education Research Journal, and presented at international
conferences such as CIES and EERA-ECER annual conferences. He also serves
as a reviewer for many academic journals.
Seun has extensive work and research experiences with Aflatoun International
in Amsterdam, UNESCO HQ. in Paris, UNESCO Office in Monrovia (Liberia),
the European Research Council Executive Agency of the European Commission
in Brussels, the UNICEF Office of Research-Innocenti in Florence, Italy, VSO
International, the UK and UNDP in New York. Seun has also worked as a
Political Editor in a media outlet and a teacher in a community junior high
school in Nigeria. In sum, Seun is passionate about using education and
research to make the world a better place.

Kudus Oluwatoyin Adebayo is a Research Fellow in the Diaspora and Transnational Studies Unit, Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a Postdoctoral Fellow of the ACLS African Humanities Program, 2020-2021. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Sociology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria where his thesis examined the migration and settlement of Nigerians in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. His Postdoctoral research will focus on the deportation and post-deportation lives of Nigerian deportees from China, while also exploring how their deportation experience ruptures masculinities and transforms family social relations, both in Nigeria and China. Kudus is interested in international migration and diaspora, knowledge production, and urban studies.

About the Migration Network Hub

What is the Migration Network Hub?

The Hub is a virtual “meeting space” where governments, stakeholders and experts can access and share migration-related information and services. It provides curated content, analysis and information on a variety of topics.

The Hub aims to support UN Member States in the implementation, follow-up and review of the Global Compact for Migration by serving as a repository of existing evidence, practices and initiatives, and facilitating access to knowledge sharing via online discussions, an expert database and demand-driven, tailor-made solutions (launching in 2021).

What content is displayed in the Hub?

The Hub aims to help you find information on migration, ranging from policy briefs and journal articles, existing portals and platforms and what they offer, to infographics and videos. The different types of resources submitted by users undergo peer review by a panel of experts from within the UN and beyond, before being approved for inclusion in the Hub. To provide guidance to users based on findings of the needs assessment, the content is ordered so that more comprehensive and global resources are shown before more specific and regional ones.
