Maarja Vollmer is a doctoral researcher at nccr - on the move (University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland). She has background in sociology and social work and holds a Master’s degree on International Migration and Ethnic Relations from Malmö University in Sweden. Before joining nccr – on the move, she was working for the European Migration Network Estonian National Contact Point. Maarja has formerly carried out national and international research projects within the field of migration, integration, social cohesion and policy evaluation with both quantitative and qualitative approach. Her research interests include migration governance, migration policy formation, securitisation of migration, and citizenship.

Ekaterina Vorobeva is a PhD candidate at the University of Bremen, Germany. Previously, she worked in research projects on forced migration, transnationalism and migrant entrepreneurship in Finland and Malta. She was a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity (Germany) in 2022, at the University of Helsinki (Finland) and at Harvard University (USA) in 2023. Ekaterina has published articles in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, International Migration, Global Networks, and others.

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg. My research focuses on the economics of migration, especially migration motives, assimilation, and migration policies.

Lina Vosyliute is a Research Fellow at CEPS, in the Justice and Home Affairs unit.

Her research focuses on EU migration and asylum policies; border controls; the criminalisation of humanitarianism; migrant smuggling and other organised crime issues; the protection of minorities in the EU, with a focus on Roma inclusion and anti-Gypsyism; the role of civil society actors and broader rule of law and fundamental rights challenges. Previously, Lina carried out various studies at the Vilnius-based research institute Visionary Analytics.

Since 2008 she has conducted academic research and implemented evidence-based advocacy on behalf of various non-governmental organisations in Malta, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands and South Africa. In 2018 she was ranked among the 100 most influential women in Lithuania.

Dr. Nicholas Vretos obtained the degree of BSc in Computer Science from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI) in 2002 and his Ph.D. from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2012. During the elaboration of his thesis, he taught as an assistant and worked as a research assistant in Artificial Intelligence and Information Analysis Laboratory. He has worked on 15 European projects as Technical Manager/ WP Leader/researcher. He has published more than 70 articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings and a book chapter. He is a member of the IEEE and has committed as a reviewer for several journals and conferences in the field of image and video processing. His main interests are in image and video processing, semantic analysis, neural networks and 3-D data processing.

Louis Vuilleumier holds an MSc in Anthropology from the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland). His doctoral project is funded by the Doc.ch scheme of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). His research focuses on the internalization of border controls within European mobility regimes, the effects of temporal dispossession on the trajectories of illegalized migrants, and their daily forms of resistance.

I have worked more than 3 years in the humanitarian field, with the international and national organizations in Turkey.

From 2016 until now I have worked in kind of positions where I experienced the field, the theory and the practice all together.

I am serving as the Field Worker about asylum skeers and refugees in Refugees Support Center right now.

I had my Masters Degree in Social Work University, Sakarya. My master thesis name: "Male Violence to Syrian Refugees Married Women and Turkish Married Women: KİLİS Sample". This thesis now international and national a book.

Volha Vysotskaya is a research associate at the University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences and specialises in the field of Social Change, Population Dynamics, and the Life Course. Her interests lie in research on transition, life course, mobility and migration. She is equally interested in developing research on migration of skilled and highly skilled workers, social cohesion and integration of migrants in the receiving countries.
