Dr. Özge Bilgili is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences of Utrecht University. She has been awarded as a Thomas J. Alexander fellow at the Education and Skills Department of the OECD and is currently working as an associated researcher for the Strength through Diversity Project. Her expertise is on immigrant integration, social cohesion, transnationalism and education research and policy analysis in relevant areas. She has also worked extensively on migration and development issues, forced migration and return and reintegration research. Please see “Research Projects and Teaching” section for more information on her previous research experience.

Since 2016, Dr. Özge Bilgili is the chair of Dutch Association for Migration Research (DAMR) and highly involved in other academic networks. She is the co-coordinator of IMISCOE Standing Committee on Interactions of Migrant Integration and Transnationalism in Europe (IMITE) and an affiliated researcher of United Nations University – Merit. As an assistant professor at Utrecht University, she is also part of European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER) and the Inter-university Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS).

Dr. Özge Bilgili is also regularly involved in commissioned research for country governments and international organizations (IOM, UNHCR, MPI, MPG, and SDC), participates in capacity building activities and presents research findings to practitioners, policy makers and academics.

Antoine Bilodeau is a full professor in the Department of Political Science at Concordia University. He is the director of the Immigration Research Initiative (IRI) and a member of the Centre for the Study of Democratic Citizenship (CSDC), the Équipe de recherche sur l’immigration au Québec et ailleurs (ERIQA) and the Groupe de recherche sur les sociétés plurinationales (GRSP. His research interests focus on the political integration of immigrants and on the dynamics of openness to immigration and ethnocultural diversity in Quebec and elsewhere in the world. His research has been published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, the International Migration Review, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Nations and Nationalism, the International Political Science Review, Publius, Democratization, the Canadian Journal of Political Science, Politics and Religion and Territory, Politics and Governance. In recent years, A. Bilodeau has received a Concordia University Research Award (2016/2017) and the John McMenemy Prize twice (in 2020 and 2011) for the best paper published in the Canadian Journal of Political Science.

Alex Bish is an independent researcher specialising on migration, conflict, and crime dynamics in West and North Africa. Over the past seven years, Alex has conducted in-depth fieldwork across West Africa and supervised field networks of key informants in both government and hard-to-reach groups, including rebels, militants, and smugglers. Alex is also an EPSRC PhD researcher in Security and Crime Science at UCL and a Visiting Scholar at Yale University. In addition to qualitative research, he is also trained in quantitative and complex systems research methods.

About the Migration Network Hub

What is the Migration Network Hub?

The Hub is a virtual “meeting space” where governments, stakeholders and experts can access and share migration-related information and services. It provides curated content, analysis and information on a variety of topics.

The Hub aims to support UN Member States in the implementation, follow-up and review of the Global Compact for Migration by serving as a repository of existing evidence, practices and initiatives, and facilitating access to knowledge sharing via online discussions, an expert database and demand-driven, tailor-made solutions (launching in 2021).

What content is displayed in the Hub?

The Hub aims to help you find information on migration, ranging from policy briefs and journal articles, existing portals and platforms and what they offer, to infographics and videos. The different types of resources submitted by users undergo peer review by a panel of experts from within the UN and beyond, before being approved for inclusion in the Hub. To provide guidance to users based on findings of the needs assessment, the content is ordered so that more comprehensive and global resources are shown before more specific and regional ones.
