Implementing case management based: Alternatives to detention in Europe

Case management is a structured social work approach to migration management centred on individuals’ engagement with migration procedures. This briefing provides guidance for governments and civil society organisations interested in seizing the opportunity to develop pilot case management-based alternatives designed for their own context; presents growing evidence on the effectiveness and advantages of case management as an innovative alternative to migration detention and collects examples, good practices and lessons learned from existing pilots across Europe.
