UN Network on Migration in Bangladesh
In July 2019, the UN Country Team in Bangladesh created the first Country UN Network on Migration to provide coordinated support to the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) on migration issues. This Network aims to help with the implementation, follow-up and review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. To achieve its goals, the Country Network has set up three Technical Working Groups focused on labour migration, counter-trafficking in persons, and climate change and human mobility. These groups include members from UN agencies, NGOs, civil society organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders. The Country Network has been actively assisting the GoB as a GCM Champion country by promoting a "whole of society" and "whole of government" approach to GCM implementation, review and broader migration-related efforts.
