Nepal: COVID-19 & The Return Of Migrants

Many migrant workers, most of them from Nepal, lost their employment when the Indian government imposed a strict lockdown on 25 March 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19. In March alone, around 500,000 people crossed the border from India without any screening or other measures applied. This briefing note gives an overview of the crisis impact up to June 2020, and talks about sectoral needs and aggravating factors in the Nepalese context.
