I am the Founder and Executive Director of Equidem Research Nepal, a human rights and labour rights research organization. I have been managing Equidem's work in Nepal, including research team as well as field researchers in Nepal and in other countries including the Gulf. In addition, I am working as the South Asia Director of Equidem, a human rights and labour rights charity (headquartered in London) which works globally and locally. I do coordinate Equidem's work across the South Asia.
I have worked in the field of human rights for over two decades in different roles including Amnesty International’s longest serving Director in Nepal before leaving to join Equidem in late 2016. I have in-depth experience of working on research, campaign, advocacy and capacity building on labour rights and human rights over the period, of which, over 16 years of my experience is on protection of rights of the migrant workers. During this time, I have either been part of or led a number of research projects in Nepal and abroad (Malaysia and GCC countries) documenting the exploitation, forced labour and trafficking of migrant workers during their migration cycle. In addition, I have designed and implemented a number of projects on protection of rights of the migrant workers. I have in-depth knowledge and experience of evaluating implementation of various projects.
I have a Master's Degree in Economics (in 1996) from the Department Humanities and Social Science at Tribhuvan University, Nepal and I also have an additional degree of Bachelors in Commerce and Business Studies from Tribhuvan University (in 1995).

About the Migration Network Hub

What is the Migration Network Hub?

The Hub is a virtual “meeting space” where governments, stakeholders and experts can access and share migration-related information and services. It provides curated content, analysis and information on a variety of topics.

The Hub aims to support UN Member States in the implementation, follow-up and review of the Global Compact for Migration by serving as a repository of existing evidence, practices and initiatives, and facilitating access to knowledge sharing via online discussions, an expert database and demand-driven, tailor-made solutions (launching in 2021).

What content is displayed in the Hub?

The Hub aims to help you find information on migration, ranging from policy briefs and journal articles, existing portals and platforms and what they offer, to infographics and videos. The different types of resources submitted by users undergo peer review by a panel of experts from within the UN and beyond, before being approved for inclusion in the Hub. To provide guidance to users based on findings of the needs assessment, the content is ordered so that more comprehensive and global resources are shown before more specific and regional ones.
