Families of Missing Migrants: Their Search for Answers and the Impacts of Loss – Lessons across four countries
IOM’s Missing Migrants Project at the Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) is pleased to invite you to an online webinar to mark the launch of the publication: “Families of Missing Migrants: Their Search for Answers and the Impacts of Loss – Lessons across four countries”
With the support of Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), IOM’s Missing Migrants Project at the Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC) conducted research with families of missing migrants in the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, Spain and Zimbabwe. This project aimed to amplify the voices of people who have loved ones missing on migration journeys, and to provide a better understanding of the challenges they face when searching for them. The research team held conversations with 76 families of missing migrants and over 30 key stakeholders.
This event will mark the publication of the project’s two final reports, a comparative report bringing together the findings from research with families in the four research countries and a policy briefing, which includes recommendations on how policymakers can take action to support families of missing migrants in searching for their relatives and coping with loss.
The Missing Migrants team will also unveil the brand-new IOM's Missing Migrants Project website which features a section on families of the missing (missingmigrants.iom.int).
Please sign up here. A Zoom link to join the online webinar will be shared with all registered participants.
