Allaa is a doctoral researcher at the University of Birmingham, currently writing her thesis. Her PhD, funded by ESRC, focuses on refugee integration policymaking in the UK, in which she is attempting to apply design thinking and user research methods that involve refugees in designing and improving the integration services. She has over 12 years experience in social policy research and evaluation focusing on migration, refugee, and asylum working with variety of organisations including Chatham House, ICF and most recently Ipsos UK. She has also worked on ground with refugee as part of her role as humanitarian worker with the UN, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and other NGOs.

Marianela obtained a BA in Sociology at the University of Salamanca (Spain). Marianela started her postgraduate education at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, during that time she was also a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the Study of International Migration of the Georgetown University. She recently obtained a PhD from the Sussex Centre for Migration Research of the University of Sussex. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Centre for European and International Studies Research of the University of Portsmouth. Her research interests include issues regarding the experience of migration and citizenship, decolonial and postcolonial approaches to social research and critical European studies.

Inken Bartels is member of the research group “The Production of Knowledge on Migration” at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at the University of Osnabrueck. Her current research project investigates the production and circulation of statistical knowledge on migration in and from West Africa. In 2018, she completed her PhD at the Berlin Graduate School for Social Sciences at the Humboldt University. In her dissertation, she analyzed the contested practices and meanings of international migration management focusing on the IOM's work in North Africa.

I am a doctoral student in Cultural and Social Anthropology at the Institute for Latin American Studies (LAI) at Freie Universität Berlin. In my doctoral project I am investigating remigration and reintegration processes of indocumented mexican labour migrants.
Before, I studied Cultural Sciences (Social Sciences / Cultural Anthropology / Socio-Linguistics) at the Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Universidad de Málaga (Spain) and Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico).

My research revolves around diversity and integration beyond the nation-state. I explore the conseuquences of cross-border movements on the level of the urban (cities, neihborhoods) as well on the European level. Next to migration and mobility studies, I draw on postcolonial theory, critical race theory and whiteness studies. After completing my PhD in Sociology at Humboldt University in Berlin, I held positions at Sciences Po Paris, the French-German research Centre Marc Bloch in Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin, and the University of Flensburg.

Professor of law (EU law, HR Law, and Migration Law) at the University Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and Honorarium Member of the Institut Universitaire de France, Marie-Laure Basilien-Gainche carries out researches that focus on evaluating the legitimacy of the political systems of the European Union and its Member States. In particular she studies the effectiveness of the fundamental rights protection, notably examining the situations of exceptions and considering the conditions of margins. Thus, the serious crises which allow the concentration of powers and the restriction of rights, as well as the legal confinement which can conduce to power abuses and rights infringements are its main area of research. She concentrates her analysis on the EU immigration and asylum norms and their compatibility with international and European instruments of HR protection.
