Before I joined the Department of Government as DAAD lecturer, I was a postdoctoral researcher and research associate at the Department for Political Science and Sociology at the University of Bonn (Germany). In my dissertation, I developed a concept of solidarity and addressed the question of solidarity in the asylum system of the European Union, including a closer look on the so-called refugee crisis. After receiving my doctorate in 2019, I took a one-and-half-year sabbatical.

I have led research projects on migration governance in Southern Africa as well as on the migratory movements from Africa to Europe during the Arab Spring. My research and teaching focuses on the European Union’s political system and functioning, its asylum and border control policies, and the salient questions of solidarity and the rule of law. German politics and the country’s role in the EU are also within my area of expertise.

I have a Ph.D. from the University of Debrecen in Hungary, with the honorific Summa Cum Laude. Human mobility, labor markets, migration statistics, immigrant entrepreneurship, and gender studies are areas in which I work. Currently, I am working as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Immigrant Entrepreneurship at the Polish Academy of Sciences based on the institute of philosophy and sociology.

Swakshadip Sarkar is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Their current research seeks to examine the policy issues that affect transgender asylum seekers in the United Kingdom and Aotearoa New Zealand. The purpose of their research is to inform the actors involved in policy-making to bring forward the issues faced by transgender asylum seekers from an intersectional perspective.

A human geographer by training with research interests in geographical variations and determinants of nutrition well-being, inequality in public health outcomes, migration, and urbanization in the context of health wellbeing. Currently, working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of the Geography at Central University of Karnataka. I teach Population Geography, Human Geography, Geographical Thought, and Quantitative Geography. I have been actively researching and teaching for the past 13 years. Before my present assignment, I have been associated with various teaching and research organizations in various capacities, such as the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), the Planning Department, Govt of Odisha, and the Population Research Centre (PRC) at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. In the last few years, I have been actively working on measuring the complexity of food and nutrition security in India and linkage with migration.

I am a PhD candidate at the Dept., of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Central European University (Budapest). My PhD dissertation explores the reproduction of caste in Indian Diaspora in the UK. Based on ethnographic field work in the UK, I analyse how caste has survived through everyday socio-cultural and religious practices amongst the diasporic Indians. Building on theories of the social and cultural reproduction, my research examines the embeddedness of caste both as a belief and social practice in everyday life.
My research areas intersect the issues of caste, migration and diaspora; cultural reproduction; anthropology of caste and religion.

Ph.D. Candidate in Social Anthropology at the School of Global Studies, University of Sussex, UK. I hold a master's degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. I worked as a researcher at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (2011-2020).

Pasi Saukkonen is a political scientist working currently at the City of Helsinki Urban Facts. Previously he has been employed as Senior Researcher and as the Director of The
Finnish Foundation for Cultural Policy Research (Cupore) and in different positions at the University of Helsinki. He holds an Adjunct Professorship at the University of Helsinki
(political science) and at the University of Jyväskylä (cultural policy). He has published widely on, for example, issues related to nationalism and national identity, politics in a multicultural society, local and national integration policies and cultural policies, and on the culture, society and politics in the Netherlands.

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Government at Georgetown University. My research focuses on international migration policy, the way European states address irregular migration, diaspora politics, and public attitudes towards migrants. --- Je suis un doctorant à l'Université de Georgetown.
