Study on Remittance Regulatory Frameworks and Accessibility of Regular Remittance Channels of the Colombo Process Member States

The Columbo Process is a a Regional Consultative Process on Overseas Employment and Contractual Labor for Countries of Origin in Asia which builds on existing institutions and collaborations at the regional level. A key thematic priority area within the Columbo process is Promoting Cheaper, Faster and Safer Transfer of Remittances. The work of the thematic area working group focusses on remittance transfers, legislation, policies and cooperation on specific migration corridors or on a regional basis. The Columbo process working group aims to understand, improve and cooperate on specific migration corridors in the region and with Gulf states. The larger objective is reducing remittance transfer costs and enabling greater financial inclusion. It is useful for policymakers, governments and remittance service providers.
