Frank van Tubergen is full Professor of Sociology at Utrecht University and the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI). His research interests include immigration and integration, social networks, and religion. He co-coordinated the Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study in Four European Countries (CILS4EU).

Van Tubergen’s research has been published in journals such as American Sociological Review, European Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, and Demography. He is the author of “Introduction to Sociology” (Routledge, 2020).

His research has been supported by grants from the Dutch National Science Foundation (Veni, Vidi, Gravitation), the European Commission (Norface, Horizon2020), Utrecht University, and the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

His papers won awards from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (Ammodo KNAW award), the German Sociological Association, IPUMS, the Dutch Sociological Association, and the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities.

Van Tubergen is affiliated with the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) and an elected fellow of the European Academy of Sociology.

I currently work as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Bergen, Norway, where I occupy the function of Executive Scientific Coordinator for the Horizon 2020 project PROTECT (protect-project.eu/).
I have a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Milan, Italy, and am honorary fellow at the Centre for European Governance, University of Exeter, the UK. I collaborate with various universities and research centres. My research focuses regard Europeanization, migration policies, social policies at large and policy evaluation.

Carlos Vargas-Silva is Director of the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) and Professor in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford. He is also the Director of the Doctoral Programme in Migration Studies and a member of Kellogg College. Carlos is co-founder and current Editor-in-Chief of the journal Migration Studies.

To scrutinize the socio-political implications of international migration, my work develops a transdisciplinary and transnational approach to human mobility.

Dr Simone Varriale has published on the relations between social inequality, globalization and migration, with a focus on EU migration and South-North European inequalities, in journals such as Sociology, The Sociological Review Current Sociology and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. He has published a monograph on Unequal EU Migrations with Bristol University Press (2023).

Ph.D. expert specialized in migration management with focus on asylum, integration and dedicated European funds. During the period 2007-2017, as immigration police officer I evaluated over 100 project proposals related to the asylum phenomenon, areas of intervention: legal counselling for asylum seekers, material and education aid for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of a form of protection, country of origin reports, relocation, integration, irregular migration, etc. In order to develop my knowledge in the migration field, I concluded in 2021 my doctoral studies with the thesis "The integrated System of the Migration Management". I know very well the migration public system in Romania as I worked for 14 years in the General Inspectorate for Immigration and now, I have extended my overview working as an independent consultant and NGO's representative.

Dr Zana Vathi has been conducting research in the field of migration since 2005. She is Reader/Associate Professor in Social Sciences at Edge Hill University in the UK. She was trained at the University of Sussex where she completed her PhD in Migration Studies in 2011. Dr Vathi is an expert in qualitative migration studies with fieldwork experience in in over 6 countries and with various migrant groups.
