Broken down by age and sex: Why reliable and timely population statistics are more important than ever

With increasing evidence that migrants are disproportionately affected by COVID-19 due to factors such as overcrowding in dormitories and limited access to healthcare, disaggregated data could help policymakers better understand the vulnerability of specific groups of population, including migrants, to COVID-19. In this Brief, UNESCAP’s Statistics Division offers National Statistical Offices information on free digital solutions and statistical software that can enable governments to respond with real-time statistics and evidence-based policies.
