Description
This workstream was established to advance GCM implementation via the successful socio-economic integration of migrants, including in countries of destination (immigrants) and upon return (return migrants), through access to decent work (comprising job creation, social protection, social dialogue and fundamental principles and rights at work) and access to financing, with a gender-responsive, rights-based, whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach.
Activities
i. Engage in consultations towards a comprehensive definition of the elements to be included in the definition of migrants’ socio-economic integration, and to provide guidance on the workstream ToRs. This will be carried out through at least two (2) online meetings and the creation of a dedicated Hub virtual space to collect inputs.
Timeline: Q1 2023
ii. Develop the workstream ToRs, including a draft outline of the guidance for policy making and its checklist, with a workplan, in close consultation with the Members.

iii. Prepare and deploy an online survey to map effective (and harmful) policies for migrants’ socio-economic integration and engage regional and national Networks in the identification and compilation of examples related to identified effective policies and hold global and regional online consultations to develop complementary qualitative inputs.

iv. Develop the first draft of the Guidance for policy making, with its checklist and examples.

v. Hold webinar with members to collect inputs on the first draft of the Guidance and to guide the second draft of the Checklist and examples.

vi. Publish the draft Guidance, with Checklist & examples, in the dedicated Network Hub Discussion page for further inclusion of Network Members inputs. Webinar with regional Networks, MSs and stakeholders for final revision.

vii. Finalize the Guidance, with checklist and examples, and present it to the EC for final inputs and imprimatur.
