Objectives

  • Enhance the knowledge and understanding of the GCM, the UN Network on Migration and migration as a cross-cutting issue and accelerator of the SDGs achievement

  • Explore existing opportunities for the meaningful integration of migration in the UN country planning and programming

  • Discuss specific activities that can be feasibly implemented by UNMN in Turkmenistan in 2024

  • Support high-level engagement in, and commitment to, the integration of migration in the CCA and Cooperation Framework

Agreed actions

  • Reinvigorate and strengthen the work of Network in Turkmenistan by creating a UNCT thematic group of Network focal points from relevant UN agencies, updating the Network’s ToR and developing Network’s workplan(s) beginning in 2024

  • Hold Network quarterly meetings with focal points to monitor the implementation of the workplan(s), discuss bottlenecks and challenges, inform UNCT/Network members of the progress and possible solutions

  • Support active engagement of the national Network with the Interdepartmental Working Group on monitoring the GCM implementation to promote Turkmenistan’s participation and reporting at the regional/global migration review forums

  • Bolster the Network’s support to the Government of Turkmenistan in  mainstreaming the GCM objectives into existing national policies, developing the National Migration Concept, including National Action Plans on migration and implementation of the GCM and ensuring synergies with SDG implementation
