Architect (2001), PhD in Urban Planning and Public Policies (2012), since 2008 Giovanna Marconi is researcher at the SSIIM Unesco Chair on the ‘Social and Spatial Inclusion of International Migrants’ based at the University Iuav of Venice. Her main research topics include: urban inclusion of international migrants, the governance of migration in small-medium sized cities, South-to-south international migration and transit migration, . She coordinated and collaborated on a number of international (action)research projects related to these issues and is author of several scientific articles and book chapters on the urban dimension of international migration.

I am a PhD candidate in Applied Anthropology at Oregon State University (USA). Born and bred in Italy, I obtained my BA degree in Socio-cultural Anthropology at the University of Siena, and Master's in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from Leiden University (The Netherlands). Indonesia was my research area during my BA and MA studies, while I returned to Italy for my PhD research in 2018. I am currently writing my dissertation on the anti-trafficking apparatus in Tuscany and the negligence on issues of non-sexual labor trafficking.

F. Deniz Mardin is a medical doctor and she is currently working as a consultant both in “Refugee Health Policy” project conducted by ICAP Columbia University and in Medecine Sans Frontiere Project. She completed her PhD in Istanbul University, in Public Health Department. She received her MD in Bologna University with a thesis on New Reforms about Family Doctor´s System in Italy. She has diverse work experiences in health sector as primary health care, reproductive health, child and mother health and experiences in NGO projects as MSF’s psycho-social project for migrants and medical support for torture survivors in Turkish Human Rights Foundation. Her research interests are migration, access to health services, stigmatization toward migrants by health workers, contraceptive ways usage.

Ana Margheritis is Research Professor at CONICET/UTDT (National Council for Scientific and Technological Research/Universidad Torcuato Di Tella) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and co-Coordinator of the MIGCITPOL Standing Committee within IMISCOE. She previously worked and hold visitingpositions at highly ranked universities in the USA, Europe, and the UK. She is the author of four sole-authored books, including Migration Governance across Regions (Routledge 2016); editor of two other volumes (including Shaping Migration between Europe and Latin America (SAS Publications, 2018), and co-author of a seventh. Her peer-reviewed articles on transnational migration, international political economy and foreign policy appeared in a wide range of journals. She
has been consultant for EUDO at the European University Institute and private firms in higher education, as well as the UNDP and national research agencies in the USA, UK, The Netherlands, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Canada.

A media and migration scholar/digital anthropologist with expertise in the material and affective practices of connectivity among European and forced migrants. I am particularly interested in observing the role that media technologies play in shaping transnational identities and communities, but also how they contribute to the circulation of solidarity and support across and despite of borders.
