Raising awareness on identification of root causes and enhancement of international cooperation
In light of objectives 2 (aimed to minimize the adverse drivers and structural factors that compel people to leave their country of origin) and 23 (aimed to strengthen international cooperation and global partnership for safe, orderly and regular migration) of the GCM, and aware of the need to develop long-term and sustainable approaches to migration, the Bahá’í International Community commits to collaborate with governments, civil society and other stakeholders in creating spaces on the following closely linked issues:
1. Identifying and addressing the root causes of migration, through a dispassionate and collective analysis and reexamination of social, political and economic systems, structures and policies that have led to these issues.
2. Examining the attitudes required to strengthen international cooperation through an approach whereby the advancement of the global common good is viewed as a primary objective, one no less important than securing national or regional interests.
3. Exploring how different policy areas, including agriculture, trade, investment, and the environment impact the drivers of migration.
