Preparedness is necessary to be ready to respond to extreme weather events likely to lead to outbreaks of climate-sensitive diseases and population displacements. Liberia was affected by floods in 2007, attributable to exceptionally high rainfall and thunderstorms leading to much run-off, and such events are likely to occur with increasing frequency in the future.
