As of the end of 2009, Mongolia’s population stood at 2,735.8 thousand showing an annual growth rate of 1.9 percent, with a gender ratio of 48.9 percent males to 51.1 percent females. In 2015, the population is expected to reach 3,044.9 thousand people. About 62.6 percent of the total population live in urban areas, mostly in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city due to a significant migration flow from rural areas.
