´´ Regional fallout from that test caused widespread contamination over Bikini and forced the evacuation of people from Rongelap and Utrik.53 As for Bikini Atoll itself, three of its islands - Bokonijien, Aerokojlol, and Namu - were completely vaporized by the nuclear blasts and disappeared´´
´´ This prompted the U.S. to evacuate them once again, this time to Majuro Atoll, 966 km (600 miles) from Bikini.´´
´´ . The 167 residents at the time of the blast received significant external and internal exposures to “fresh” fallout contamination and were evacuated to Kwajalein Atoll.´´
´´ Reports of waves up to 5 m (16 feet) high were reported in the capital where waters flooded roads, deposited debris on roads and in yards, and temporarily cut off access to the airport. MIRCS opened two evacuation centers in schools,133 and three church-based centers opened to accommodate 200 residents driven out of their homes by the flooding.´´
´´ There are no official statistics to confirm droughtinduced displacement, but absenteeism rates for elementary schools on Ailinglaplap and Arno suggested that families were forced to move to other islands during the crisis.´´
´´ . In Arno Atoll, 36 homes were damaged and 246 people displaced. A number of outer islands were also affected.´´
