´´ This is equivalent to a low net income rate, which results to migration from the rural areas to urban, particularly from the east of the country to the west. The Government Statistics Institute (2003) data reveals that from 1990 to 2000, the urban population increased by 30%, i.e. from 33 million to 44 million, whereas the rural increased at a much lower rate (4.3%).´´
