The Programme Migration & Diaspora (PMD) supports partner countries in shaping migration policies and the provision of information on regular migration to key destination countries, including Germany. Moreover, the programme fosters investments, knowledge exchange and innovation in these countries by supporting the development-oriented engagement of their diasporas living in Germany.

The Programme thus contributes to the aim of German development cooperation to shape regular migration and international mobility in a way that benefits migrants, their countries of origin and destination alike (“Triple Win”) in line with the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM).

The PMD is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is active in 22 selected partner countries around the world.
