Protecting Human Rights of Migrants at the borders. Evidence and work of European National Human Rights Institutions

In this background paper, the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) sheds light on the findings of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) about human rights violations at the borders and how they have used their broad mandate to promote and protect migrants’ human rights. Looking forward, this paper serves as a starting point for European NHRIs to put forward recommendations to national and regional authorities to ensure that human rights are also respected at the borders.
