The Remittance Community Task Force

Over 40 members including international organizations, inter-governmental bodies, industry and private sector groups, networks of diaspora organizations and international experts on remittances, joined forces on 24 March 2020 under IFAD leadership, in response to the call by the UN Secretary General for global solidarity.
Understanding the need to act together as one to confront the global emergency, these key stakeholders of the remittance ecosystem from all sectors came together to raise awareness of the impact of the pandemic on the one billion people on earth directly involved in remittances,  give voice to remittance families, and define a set of urgent measures for governments and the industry to address these challenges.
The work of the Task Force culminated in the release of a Blueprint for Action “Remittances in Crisis: Response, Recovery, Resilience”, a report outlining a set of immediate and short-term measures to address the challenges confronting migrant workers and their families with the COVID-19 pandemic. The report fed the policy options of the Financing for Development in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond, and will contribute to the work plan on remittances in the framework of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI).
National Remittance Task Forces have been subsequently set up in many countries in Africa, feeding and fostering the dialogue on remittances both at national and regional level.
