Talent on the Move

Youth on the move across continents represent a unique, yet largely untapped pool of talent, ideas and entrepreneurship. Often resilient, highly motivated and with experience overcoming adversity, migrant and displaced youth have the potential to help solve some of our greatest challenges. Yet, while talent is universal, for many, opportunities are hard to come by.

This report leverages the technology of U Report to ask 26,375 people, including 8,764 young people (aged 14 – 24 years), about their aspirations to learn and earn, and the unique barriers they face – as a girl, or as a refugee, trying to access the labour market with or without legal status. Underpinned by the poll findings and told through the eyes of youth, it shines a light on the potential of young people on the move to be change makers, entrepreneurs, and innovators – transforming their communities and economies. It also calls on world leaders and policy makers to increase recognition of and investment in the talents and potential of youth on the move, including by cocreating learning to earning solutions with and for youth.
