Ahmad Walid Barlas is from Afghanistan. He received his master's degree in economic and management from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. Currently, he is employed as a lecturer and head of BBA department at Samangan Higher Education Institute, Afghanistan. His research interest area is migration, remittances and economic development. Mr. Barlas has conducted a number of research projects on migration studies.

I am a doctoral student in Cultural and Social Anthropology at the Institute for Latin American Studies (LAI) at Freie Universität Berlin. In my doctoral project I am investigating remigration and reintegration processes of indocumented mexican labour migrants.
Before, I studied Cultural Sciences (Social Sciences / Cultural Anthropology / Socio-Linguistics) at the Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Universidad de Málaga (Spain) and Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico).

International migration researcher currently doing a MA in Mobility Studies, in the Department of Historical and Geographical Sciences and the Ancient World at the University of Padua. Jean Beaman is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She was previously on the faculty at Purdue University and has held visiting fellowships at Duke University and the European University Institute (Florence, Italy). Her research is ethnographic in nature and focuses on race/ethnicity, racism, international migration, and state-sponsored violence in both France and the United States. She is author of Citizen Outsider: Children of North African Immigrants in France (University of California Press, 2017), as well as numerous articles and chapters. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Northwestern University. She is also an Editor of H-Net Black Europe, an Associate Editor of the journal, Identities: Global Studies in Culture and Power, and Corresponding Editor for the journal Metropolitics/Metropolitiques.

I hold a PhD in Sociology from the Paris-Sorbonne University. My interest in expatriation stems from my experience as educator in France and abroad and inquiries among teachers from France in Casablanca (Morocco) and London (UK) by in ethnographic and qualitative methods. Author several articles and book chapters, I am an active member of international research networks in Sociology: “Comparative Sociology” and “Sociology of Migration” at the International Sociological Association at the conference at Tokyo (2014) and Toronto (2018), “Global, Transnational and Cosmopolitan Sociology” and “Sociology of migration” at the European Sociological Association at the congress in Torino and Bilbao (2013), Praha (2015), Athens (2017), Helsinki (2018) and Manchester (2019). I also have participated to the IMISCOE conference in Malmö (2019) and I am a member of the Lifestyle Migration Hub.
I have led research with homeless people and the use of alcohol in Paris and guided social workers with students in training progress. I have taught Sociology of migrations at Sciences Po Paris and I am now Lecturer in Social Work at CEMEA-Aubervilliers and Paris-Nanterre University.

I work as a senior researcher at the Norwegian Social Research (NOVA), Oslo Metropolitan University. I have a PhD in sociology from Queen's University, Belfast, UK. In the recent years, I have been involved in research examining migrant involvement in welfare services; I studied migrant mental health; I was involved in and researched migrant organizations; and I examined the refugee settlement strategies of the Norwegian municipalities. My research interests span migration; transnationalism; public health; studies in mental health and well-being; resilience; welfare services; family migration. Since 2019, I have been an assistant editor of the Nordic Journal of Migration Research.

Francesco Bellinzis earned his PhD in sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and is currently affiliated with the UPC School in Spain. Previously, he was a member of Gedime (Immigration and Ethnic Minorities Study Group) at UAB and served as a visiting researcher at the University of Brighton. Additionally, he led research for 'La Langue des Oiseaux,' an Erasmus+ project by Linguapax International (UNESCO consultative status) addressing migrant and refugee engagement with the arts in European cities. His areas of interest predominantly lie in the sociology of art and migration studies. He has published various articles in these two areas with a specific emphasis on the relationship between art and migration.

I am a sociologist of migration with a particular expertise in ethnography, refugee studies and the Horn of Africa. Over the past 10 years, my primary concerns of investigation have been the drivers and the dynamics of forced and high risk-migrants; migrant smuggling; gender and migration; secondary movements of asylum seekers and refugees within Europe; Dublin Regulations and its implications; home and housing studies; transnational families. Most of my empirical work has been based on qualitative methods such as life-stories collection, qualitative interviews and, most notably, multi-sited ethnography. I have done fieldwork in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands from 2012 onwards. My research settings included refugee camps, asylum centers, and urban diverse neighbourhoods.
