Increase flexible funding for humanitarian assistance

TENTATIVE DEADLINE OF IMPLEMENTATION:
In line with its Grand Bargain commitments, Germany has increased its flexible funding for humanitarian assistance significantly, from 147.6 million EUR in 2016 to more than one billion EUR in 2021, which represents 40.7% of the total funding. This way, Germany was able to meet the 30% target of unearmarked or softly earmarked humanitarian contributions the second year in a row. We have increased our share of flexible funding about 4% from 2020 to 2021. Germany´s commitment for the upcoming years is to continue this tendency in favour of more flexible funding whereas at least the target of 30% should be met. Germany’s use of multi-year funding (78% in 2021) further strengthens the humanitarian system while fostering adequate humanitarian response in contexts with disaster displacement and migrants in vulnerable situations.
