Pledge Initiative: Government of Sierra Leone through the Environment Protection Agency and the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

To accelerate Sierra Leone’s fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Government of Sierra Leone through the Environment Protection Agency and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Sierra Leone pledge to strengthen their partnership to: (i) Address the gaps in data and knowledge on human mobility in the context of disasters, climate change and environmental degradation. (ii) Support a whole of government approach, including through a stronger involvement of non-migration government stakeholders, such as ministries of environment, climate change, disaster risk reduction in global migration governance discussions, including at the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), to pursue coherent policy implementation across the Global Compact for a Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. (iii) Pursue coherent policy implementation across the Global Compact for a Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, by promoting a stronger integration of human mobility in climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction commitments and strategic documents, and by leading efforts to exchange good practices and support a common approach at regional level.
