Establish a Community of Practice across countries of destination and origin and provide research on return and reintegration. Improve empirical basis for AVRR programs and public discourse.

TENTATIVE DEADLINE OF IMPLEMENTATION:
Germany finances research partnerships with various research institutes within Germany and abroad. The aim is threefold: Use the research as input to improve the support to AVRR programs and modules directly benefitting individuals who return to their countries of origin; foster transnational research networks and collaboration among researchers and their institutions; and deliver scientifically sound input to inform the discourse, both nationally and internationally. BMZ currently funds four projects that conduct research into AVRR or aim at strengthening closer cooperation and partnership between countries of origin and destination on AVRR. These include partnerships with the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), German foreign policy think-tank SWP, the International Center for Conflict Studies in Bonn (BICC) and the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). Additional collaborations are being prepared.
