Kenya UN Network on Migration common pledge
a) We pledge to support Government of Kenya in the implementation and review process of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), including by providing technical assistance to update their Voluntary GCM Review Report in consultation with multi-stakeholders, taking into account GCM’s guiding principles and 23 objectives.
b) We pledge actively participate capacity-building mechanism established by the Global Compact, the Migration Network Hub and the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF), including by promoting Kenya’s participation in the repository of practices and by developing joint proposals for the Migration MPTF.
c)We will support Government of Kenya to promote the whole of government and whole of society approach, including by including in GCM discussions relevant representatives from the county level, civil society and faith-based organizations, academia and migrants, more specifically as we move forward to revise the National Implementation Action Plan for the Global Compact on Migration.
d) We pledge to work better together to integrate the voices of East African migrants, East African academia, and other relevant East African stakeholders in the discussions related to the GCM, specially by promoting the voices from the East African academia in the expert database of the Network Knowledge Hub.
c) We pledge to include migration in all its dimensions into our new United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (2022-2026), particularly by integrating migrants and migration in the formulation and implementation of Joint Programmes under the Cooperation Framework.
e) We pledge to strengthen our collaboration with other UN Networks on Migration and UN Country Teams in the region to exchange information, challenges and best practices when implementing and reviewing the GCM, particularly by fostering discussions on emerging trends and challenges on common cross-border issues of international migration impacting countries in the region.

With the support of the Kenya UNNM, Kenya’s National Coordination Mechanism onMigration (NCM) held a National Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on 9 May 2022 to update the Voluntary Global Compact on Migration (GCM) Review Report and converse on pledges to be made for the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) held on 17-20 May 2022. The consultation gathered over 60 representatives, including the UN Resident Coordinator, DG Immigration, national and county government, UN agencies, Academia, FBOs & CSOs.
